I don't really hate the Bridgewater. I'm still knitting away fast and furious. Take a look at my handiwork

I hate the Bridgewater!!!!!!!!
Not really, it's a beautiful pattern and the construction is inspired. The problem is that I have been working on the edging for many days and am only 1/4 of the way done! The shower is this Saturday! Now what? Just to be safe I'll have to buy a gift so the mother-of-the-groom doesn't show up empty handed. I could wrap it up the way it is, nah, that's tacky.
Cabot, my 12 year old Golden, has a UTI. Poor baby. We went to the vet and found out her eyes don't work well either. I already knew that. She barks at us when we get home. The vet wanted a urine sample, so outside we go with a tech. She had a long stick with a little shallow cup on the end. With the 'pee catcher', the tech followed Cabot around telling her to "go pee pees". OMG So funny. We walked over to the "pee area" where all the dogs go. Finally she squatted and the 'pee catcher' was shoved under my poor sick puppy. Oh, the injustice of it all, so humiliating. $120.00 later, she's on amoxicillan.
My cousin is a diabetic (no big surprise I have D-relatives). She started on pills and went to insulin after a few years. She has neuropathy(sp?) Some kind of treatment to her swollen feet. I don't think this is good. It scares me. How does this happen?

The obsessive obsess even more. Now that all my lunch mates know my health issues, I see them looking at what I eat every day. They try to be sly, averting their eyes after a peek. You know when someone is looking at your food. Are they judging me? Are they counting my carbs? Do they even know what they're looking at? Nope. Just concerned, curious. Still, it's buggy. I suppose we all do it. I often think...'why are you eating a pop tart, you just had a sandwich and cookies?'..... 'how can you eat a PPJ everyday?' ....and (my favorite) 'I'd rather starve than eat the school lunch...yuck'.
Speaking of food. I visited the nutritionist this week. I was happy with the outcome and had a big smile on my face when I got home. I can eat ice cream!!! I cup of ice cream for my nighttime snack!! Not the diet kind that tastes like plastic, the good ice cream with fat and cream and sugar. Yay for me. Considering my main food group was dairy and sugar...well, I'm quite pleased. Also, she gave me the exchange diet, which is what I've been looking for. It's in my house somewhere from 2 pregnancies ago. A really nice poster.
Bridgewater is almost done. The 'round and round we go' gets longer with each row. I was at my once a month job at Hub Mills (Classic Elite) yesterday. There's a finished Bridgewater that is so delicate and beautiful. It's in CEY Alpaca Lace. It's hard to imagine mine looking like that with it being on circs. This week it WILL be done, then I'll use the steamer at the store. Pictures soon.

I've been learning lots about diabetes. Here's the latest:
Farm fresh M&M Ice Cream has loads of sugar, i.e. carbs, apparently the bad kind. The kind that makes my meter flash at me, something about ketoses. Crap. I do great during the day until about 5 ish. I'm never sure what my insides are doing. I used to obsess and check it all the time. Now I'm obsessing about not taking it.
The wedding shawl so far. Bridgewater is kicking my butt. I'm on the way down to 1 stitch, about 100 more rows. You'd think gartering would be easy and fast. Nope on the fast, so slow and monotonous. Once the square is done the lace around begins.

So, there is a point of no return, it's when you sit down. The lure of nice looking nails and polish that stays on for weeks. Then at 3 weeks it's time to go back, fill, more polish. 3 more weeks, fill, polish, fill polish, fill polish, etc. It got so I brought my own polish so I could touch up and go for 4 weeks.
My nails went from beautiful to ugh in 1 day. I cut them down, took off the polish, and started the long process of filing the acrylic down. Then I tried to pry them off...bad idea. Ouch.
Now I have a bandaid on one, short like biting short on 4, bumps from the excess acrylic I didn't file down or pry off, the rest are paper thin and ridged with the acrylic gone. One looks like I have Saran Wrap on it. I couldn't even peel my orange today.
I was going to go to the salon to have a soak in removal goo, but I got stuck in traffic that kept me in my car for 2 and 1/2 hours for a 20 minute trip. Oh, and the gas dummy light on for 1 hour and 10 minutes. So, what was a girl to do??? Yes, start filing my nails down and picking at the acrylic. Couldn't help myself.
No pictures, you don't want to see what's under the bandaid.
New project alert!
The square shawl from Made in Brooklyn, Bridgewater. So far easy garter. Using a huge cone of undyed sock yarn, about 3,000 yards. I tried a bamboo/wool and Alpaca Lace. One too thick , the other too thin. Here's the pattern on Ravelry. I love the simplicity of it. You start with 1 stitch then keep adding 1 more at the beginning of each row, then to square it off, decrease 1 stitch every row. I'm thinking of rectanglling (nice word) the middle garter for the next one.
The shawl is for Kara on her wedding day. I might even make one for her mother and me, different colors. I better get busy.
Almost done with Jane Austin's Persuasion. Reading her books take me to a different place in the time/space continuum. Wilst, thoust, shewn (great spelling), perhaps.
I watched Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, 2 different Persuasions, and Emma.
I got so I couldn't keep them straight. So fun.
I have to keep reminding myself that D is not going away.
