I've tried to keep this blog political-free but family is family.
Can you guess where I've been for the past few days?.
Here are some pics.

We flew to DC for my sister-in-law's swearing in to Congress!! She is now holding the same seat my brother held before he was elected to the Senate in '78. It was such a proud moment to sit in the House Gallery and watch her take the oath. I know my brother Paul was smiling down on it all. I loved seeing people from all across the US being in 'their' capital city. No time for sight seeing this trip except for the Capital Building and Rayburn Office Building. We'll do the touristy stuff next time. We did meet the Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and took pictures in her office. (She wears very high heels - stilettos...and up close, is very good looking and well preserved)

The only knitting got done on the plane ride home. So now I can say, 'yes, I have knit on a plane'.

Well, considering there are only 100 families in the US who can say they have someone in the Senate, I'd say you have every right to be proud.

Congratulations to her and your family and she has my sincerest best wishes for her term in that very important office!!

So close to Halloween I couldn't help but think of a Mummy. I don't mean that personal to her, just the wording caught me off guard. heehee

Congrats to your SIL You must be very excited and proud.
I just found your blog and noticed you were a teacher. I recently retired (6th grade) and your blog brought back memories. I miss the kids- but enjoy every minute of being off. It is like an extended summer all year long! It must be hard with your back hurting as teaching is a high energy job.
