So, there is a point of no return, it's when you sit down. The lure of nice looking nails and polish that stays on for weeks. Then at 3 weeks it's time to go back, fill, more polish. 3 more weeks, fill, polish, fill polish, fill polish, etc. It got so I brought my own polish so I could touch up and go for 4 weeks.

My nails went from beautiful to ugh in 1 day. I cut them down, took off the polish, and started the long process of filing the acrylic down. Then I tried to pry them off...bad idea. Ouch.

Now I have a bandaid on one, short like biting short on 4, bumps from the excess acrylic I didn't file down or pry off, the rest are paper thin and ridged with the acrylic gone. One looks like I have Saran Wrap on it. I couldn't even peel my orange today.

I was going to go to the salon to have a soak in removal goo, but I got stuck in traffic that kept me in my car for 2 and 1/2 hours for a 20 minute trip. Oh, and the gas dummy light on for 1 hour and 10 minutes. So, what was a girl to do??? Yes, start filing my nails down and picking at the acrylic. Couldn't help myself.

New project alert!

The square shawl from Made in Brooklyn, Bridgewater. So far easy garter. Using a huge cone of undyed sock yarn, about 3,000 yards. I tried a bamboo/wool and Alpaca Lace. One too thick , the other too thin. Here's the pattern on Ravelry. I love the simplicity of it. You start with 1 stitch then keep adding 1 more at the beginning of each row, then to square it off, decrease 1 stitch every row. I'm thinking of rectanglling (nice word) the middle garter for the next one.

The shawl is for Kara on her wedding day. I might even make one for her mother and me, different colors. I better get busy.

Almost done with Jane Austin's Persuasion. Reading her books take me to a different place in the time/space continuum. Wilst, thoust, shewn (great spelling), perhaps.

I watched Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, 2 different Persuasions, and Emma.

I got so I couldn't keep them straight. So fun.

I have to keep reminding myself that D is not going away.
