Don't my White Loaves look gorgeous? I've never tasted a better piece of bread. I have always used a bread machine and those loaves can't be compared with what came out of my oven. So delicious. I loved the density too. I was able to slice it very thin with a regular knife. Sooo glad this recipe made 2 loaves, because the first one was gone in a snap.
I love looking at this photo. I think it was suppose to be browner.
Notice that white hook looking thing? It's called a dough hook thingy. It's been sitting in my cabinet for the past 15 years. I've never used it before this recipe.
Here's the dough rising.
Here it's rising again.
I can't wait to get started on the next project.

Glad you enjoyed the bread. We did too!
I"m always amazed by those who've not used their dough hooks...but it must be about 99.7 percent of all bakers. My mom and grandmas baked breads every week so I thought everyone did...but, in reality, most people bake nothing except pre-made cookie dough or something similar. Anyway, I'm glad your hook got a workout and that your baking was so successful. I'm sure there will be several challenges as we bake through the book...I'm sure we all have things to learn.
I agree-nothing tasted as good, especially the grilled cheese I made tonight with the left overs!
nice work. glad you enjoyed your bread. i'm glad it made 2 loaves, too!
great job getting out of your comfort zone and baking your own bread from scratch! :) this is only the beginning.... it's so much fun!
Yours look great! This bread really is a winner.
This bread was fabulous. Love yours. I used a bread machine for a long time too but these loaves were so much better and bigger! I may never go back to the machine.
